The most respected and revered female playback singer from the country, Lata Mangeshkar, is to be felicitated today at a ceremony in Mumbai with the “Sangeetha Ratna” award. Maharashtra Governor Shankar Narayanan would be doing the honours and the award is being presented by the Pazhassi Raja Charitable Trust.
Spritual guru Shri Ravishankar, C.P.Krishna Nayar, head of the Leela Group and Ramoji Rao, head of the Eenadu group will also be felicitated at the ceremony.
Veera Pazhassi Raja, King of Kottayam is regarded as the first Indian ruler to wage a war against the imperial British rule. Pazhassi Raja had a long and bitter war with Hyder Ali, Tipu Sultan and the British much before the first Indian war of independence. The charitable trust has been established to foster Indian national pride and awareness in the citizens.
